Do You Know about these terms before you are investing in a Foreign Country? FDI vs FII- Very Informative article shared by Prof. Baljeet Kaur

 FDI vs FII

Both FDI and FII is related to investment in a foreign country. FDI or Foreign Direct Investment is an investment that a parent company makes in a foreign country. On the contrary, FII or Foreign Institutional Investor is an investment made by an investor in the markets of a foreign nation. In FII, the companies only need to get registered in the stock exchange to make investments. But FDI is quite different from it as they invest in a foreign nation. The Foreign Institutional Investor is also known as hot money as the investors have the liberty to sell it and take it back. But in Foreign Direct Investment, this is not possible. In simple words, FII can enter the stock market easily and also withdraw from it easily. But FDI cannot enter and exit that easily. This difference is what makes nations to choose FDI’s more than then FII's. FDI is more preferred to the FII as they are considered to be the most beneficial kind of foreign investment for the whole economy. Foreign Direct Investment only targets a specific enterprise. It aims to increase the enterprises capacity or productivity or change its management control. In an FDI, the capital inflow is translated into additional production. The FII investment flows only into the secondary market. It helps in increasing capital availability in general rather than enhancing the capital of a specific enterprise. The Foreign Direct Investment is considered to be more stable than Foreign Institutional Investor. FDI not only brings in capital but also helps in good governance practises and better management skills and even technology transfer. Though the Foreign Institutional Investor helps in promoting good governance and improving accounting, it does not come out with any other benefits of the FDI.

Thalassemia(A blood Disorder)- Very Informative post shared by Prof. Darshdeep Kaur

 THALASSEMIA (A Blood Disorder)

A THALASSEMIA is a type of blood disorder involving lower than normal amounts of an oxygen-carrying protein. Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder characterised by less oxygen-carrying protein (Haemoglobin) and fewer red blood cells in the body than normal.

CAUSES

Thalassemia is caused by mutations in the DNA of cells that make haemoglobin — the substance in red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout your body. The mutations associated with thalassemia are passed from parents to children. Most common blood group in Thalassemia patients is O +ve.

SYMPTOMS

·         Anaemia

·         Fatigue or Weakness

·         Failure to thrive

·         Shortness of breath

·         Yellow skin and eyes

TREATMENT

Bone marrow and stem cell transplant from a compatible related donor is the only treatment that can cure thalassemia. It is the most effective treatment. But they are not done very often because of significant risks involved.

PREVENTION

Currently, Thalassemia cannot be prevented because it is an inherited (passed down from parents to the child) blood disorder. It is possible to identify carriers of this disorder with genetic testing.

LIFE EXPECTANCY

Most Thalassemia patients would live up to the age of 25 to 30 years. Improved facilities will help them live up to the age of 60.

Financial Planning with Crypto Currency- article by Prof. Amandeep Singh

 Financial Planning with Crypto Currency

Cryptocurrency continues to expand through the global economy, but approximately 96% of citizens swere unable to pass a quiz about the fundamentals of cryptocurrency, according to results of theinaugural Crypto Literacy Survey, part of a consumer education initiative from a coalition of key players in the digital currency industry .The quiz consisted of 17 questions to assess knowledge incryptocurrency, bitcoin, De-Fi, blockchain, mining, types of wallets, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), as well as general feelings about digital currencies. The quiz was developed by Cryptoliteracy.org, acoalition that includes Coin me, Coin Desk, and the Digital Currency Group. The coalition websitelaunched in November in honor of the first annual Crypto Literacy Month, and includes complete results of the 2021 survey. The survey and quiz were sent to 1,000 cryptocurrency or bitcoin-aware internet users in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil, balanced across age, gender, and education level (plus race/ethnicity in the U.S.). Similar to the low pass rate of 4% in the United States, 99% of Brazilian and Mexican participants did not pass the quiz. However, according to the survey, 30% of Brazilians and 28% of Mexicans say they intend to buy or sell cryptocurrencies in the next six months, compared to 12% of Americans."Our industry needs to do more to improve crypto literacy throughout the world. By doing so, we can help people improve their lives by understanding how to utilize cryptocurrencies," says Neil Bergquist, CEO and co-founder of Coinme."As a champion of equal and simple access to digital currencies, Coinme is proud to lead this effort in collaboration with key industry partners," he adds.Other key insights from the survey show that overall, cryptocurrency owners scored higher on the crypto-literacy quiz, and that most owners are younger, wealthier, and male.In addition, younger generations in the United States are nearly three times more likely to use cryptocurrency as a means of payment, while older generations tend to view it as an investment.Consumers around the world are invited to test their cryptocurrency literacy by taking the Crypto Literacy Quiz online. Scores will be privately emailed to participants, along with tailored courses provided by CoinDesk improve knowledge of cryptocurrency concepts.

A Beautiful Piece of Publication Shared By Prof Manjinder Singh Johal, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Kapurthala.

"Greatest Happiness of the Greatest Number" - article by Prof. Manisha Department of political science Lyallpur khalsa college kapurthala

Greatest Happiness of the Greatest Numbe

The greatest happiness principle is a moral ideology, which holds that the best thing to do is what contributes to the greatest happiness of the greatest number of people. During the middle Ages, it was widely believed that happiness is not possible in earthly life and that the basis of morality was in the word of God. These views were contested in the “Enlightenment”; happiness came to be seen as attainable, and morality was regarded as man- made. A lively discussion on the relation between happiness and morality emerged, and in this climate, an instrumental view on morality appeared, in which ethical codes are seen as ways of securing a happy life. Much of this enlightened thought is reflected in Jeremy Bentham’s (1907) “Introduction to morals and legislation.” Bentham argues that the moral quality of an action should be judged by its consequences on human happiness. The greatest happiness of the greatest number is a dynamic concept in Modern India which is becoming parameter of every action of the State. Government Policy is kept importance for development to County and fulfils the desire of people in the Society. Policy means a course of action adopted by a government, business, individual and people. That is essence and reform in legal, economic and political society. Part IV of the Constitution of India the Directive Principle of State policy is Direct to the negative fundamental right for citizens which are promoted to consider by the government when making the policies. It is kinds of fundamental rights. Through the government, Policy State is providing the atmosphere for the people to improve their living status, education, participation in-country, equality and justice etc. and standard policy-making base of good governance. India is a symbol of unity in diversity and many linguistic and religious persons lived here and various scheme running by the government for the interest of people like that, Ujjwala Yojana, Gramodyauday se Bharat Uday, Swash Bharat Abhiyan, Beti Padho Beti Bachao Scheme etc., that the policies are targeting to provide, pleasures and avoid pains of people and protect rights of people and individual. We can say, the principle of the greatest happiness of the greatest number is the soul of democracy and maintaining rule of law. If all government policies are enforced in an actual manner so the structure of India will become good, glorious, strong and healthy.

"SCIENCE is the process that takes us from confusion to understanding”- Article shared by Prof Darshdeep Kaur , Dept of Physics, Lyallpur Khlasa College, Kapurthala

"SCIENCE is the process that takes us from confusion to understanding”

Science, any system of knowledge that is concerned with the physical world and its phenomena and that entails unbiased observations and systematic experimentation. In general, a science involves a pursuit of knowledge covering general truths or the operations of fundamental laws.
The natural taxonomy of the empirical sciences would break the sciences down into three basic groups:
1.The Physical Sciences is the branch of science that deals with inorganic materials, which are materials that are not living. People who work in the field of physical science can uncover new discoveries about how matter works and other universal phenomena. Some common careers involving physical science are:
Physicist: Physicists are responsible for creating and testing theories in physics. They often perform experiments and apply physics skills to creating scientific equipment.
Quantum physicist: Quantum physicists are scientists who specialize in quantum physics, which involves the behavior of the universe at an atomic and subatomic scale. Quantum physicists often work with new scientific theories that have never been studied before.
Chemist: Chemists are scientists who conduct experiments on molecular matter. They often test and create different chemicals for a variety of purposes. There are many specialties within chemistry, including biochemistry, analytical chemistry, geochemistry and more.
2.The Earth science is a field of natural science that deals with the materials of the earth and its atmosphere. People who work in earth science can contribute to the societal understanding of the earth and how humans can protect it. There are many earth science types and career applications. Some common careers involving earth sciences are:
Meteorologist: Meteorologists are responsible for analyzing the weather and preparing weather forecasts. They may broadcast their weather forecasts on television news or online video.
Land planners: Land planners can also use knowledge of earth science. Land planners are responsible for planning how to regulate and develop the land.
Geologist: Geologists are scientists who study rocks and other solid parts of the earth and other planets. Geologists often study geology-related natural disasters like mudslides and earthquakes.
3. The Life Sciences is a branch of science that involves the study of organic things, which are things that are living. The field of life science can help people understand the world, including plants, animals and human biology. Life science is a broad field with many sub-branches and career applications. Some common career involving life sciences are:
Marine biologist: Marine biologists are scientists who study marine life. There are many marine biology specialties, including marine microbiology and fishery biology.
Pharmacologist: Pharmacologists are scientists who study and develop medications to treat diseases. They are responsible for testing substances and drugs to determine their safety. Typically, pharmacologists have a biology background.
Agricultural scientist: Agricultural scientists study and conduct experiments related to crops and farm animals to help improve the industry of farming. Agricultural scientists can use biology skills and knowledge to conduct experiments and create new agricultural methods.

Man Is Born Free But Everywhere He Is In Chains- article by Prof. Manisha

Man Is Born Free But Everywhere He Is In Chains

Man is born free but everywhere he is in chains: it is a quotation by Rossueau, which holds a great truth

in human life. Rousseau was under the opinion that we are born free meaning without biases, without the burden of acquiring property etc but eventually due to the society he/she lives in, loses his freedom .A child born in a rich or a poor family comes into the world with complete freedom. When he grows up,he is chained in different fetters .As a child, he dreams of getting the moon, but he cannot. On gaining consciousness, he realized that his dream cannot come true.. That is a set back to the freedom of a child. Then he is unwilling to go to school but by force is sent to school for getting an education. That too is a fetter on his freedom. As a grown-up human being, man desires to have many things in life. But life turns him to a great tragedian when he finds himself living in a fool’s paradise, where he can dream and aspire but nor realize his aspirations because of the paucity of resources. The resources he has at its disposal are far too inadequate to realize his all dreams at a time.

He is compelled to choose between different competing ends, and that is a blow to his freedom to achieve all that he aspires for. A beggar can desire to own a big bungalow but he can’t have it because he does not possess economic means to translate his wish to reality. An industrialist can desire to have a vast industrial empire, but he cannot make his desire effective due to the scarcity of economic resources. When he cannot do so, he gets a setback and realizes the fact that he can talk about freedom but not have it in the real sense. People in the third world countries are prisoners of poverty. They want freedom from hunger, squalor, privation but they are bound so tightly in the grip of poverty that they cannot break the bound so tightly in the grip of poverty that they cannot break the shackles. They wish to breathe in an air of freedom but they cannot.

Man is enslaved by the connections of society; some chains injured this soul and few chains restrain him from proceeding towards injury. The chain of work, poverty, class, sect are really a mark of ugliness on the face of this beautiful world. The third world is connected by the chains of slavery challenged on it by the economically developed peoples in different forms.

Racial discrimination is added difficult chain in which mankind is enslaved. Man is born free but professed civilized society ties him to the chain of superior or inferior race consciousness. Sometimes the passion of loyalty exceeds the limits and injuries the sense of righteousness of nations that they fight wars with one another. The chain of patriotism hurts the feelings of other nations. Man is also enslaved in the chains of poverty, illiteracy, superstitions etc. All men in all nations are born with freedom.

Qualities of a successful entrepreneur- Articel shared by Prof Baljeet kaur, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Kapurthala.

 Qualities of a successful Entrepreneur

A successful entrepreneur has a strong inner drive that helps him or her to succeed. Let us take a look at the qualities that go into making a successful entrepreneur.

An entrepreneur should be excited by the prospect of work. They should always have a strong drive to succeed and overcome obstacles. They should not only set big goals for themselves but also see that they are actually committed to achieving them regardless of the countless setbacks that occur.

A successful entrepreneur always has a strong sense of self-confidence and a healthy opinion of their skills and abilities. Their personality is assertive and strong. They are always focused and do not really dilly dally with the issues at hand. This is what makes them different from the rest.

An entrepreneur should always be on the lookout for new innovations and ideas in order to emerge as a winner. They should constantly reinvent themselves and think of better ways to run a business and improvise on the products and services offered by them.

Another important quality of a successful entrepreneur is openness in adopting change. They should not be headstrong and stubborn when it comes to choosing other options. Change is the only thing that is constant in business no one can make any profits on age old methods.

The path to success lies in evolution, whether it is evolution of ideas, services and products or technology. An entrepreneur should have an open mind and eagerness to learn new things. It is imperative to understand that the only way to keep at the top is to keep on changing and evolving with the time.

An entrepreneur should be aware of the latest service techniques and technology in order to serve the clients in a better way.

Competition should never scare an entrepreneur. In fact, competition is what a successful entrepreneur thrives on.
